From Tess V, Senior school Art teacher
Students have been buzzing with excitement following the success of our Art Show! A heartfelt thank you to all the families and friends who came along to celebrate our students’ creativity and hard work. If you weren’t able to attend, the art displays will remain up for a little longer, so be sure to take a walk through and enjoy the incredible artworks on show.
Here is what the students had to say.
By Vika, Grade 3
"I felt amazed when I saw the art because there were so many different types of art and so many different styles. When I saw my artwork up I felt proud of myself and I think I used a lot of different techniques to create it."
By Hugh, Grade 3
"When I showed my work to my family I felt proud because they had never seen my Grade 3 art before. I loved the curtain of the CDs. They looked pretty cool and I worked hard on my CD. I thought the dragonflies looked nice too."
By Amy, Grade 6
"The artwork was vibrant and colourful, and it felt like stepping into a new world. Everything was really detailed. I felt proud of my hard work because it took us a long time to create the art and showcase it. It was really nice."
By Audrey, Grade 6
"Well it was like everywhere I looked there was another form of art work. It was just wonderful! When my mum came to see it. I felt very excited because I have been working on it all year and I was also so excited to see everyone else’s work too."
By Tau, Grade 4
"There were lots of artworks that looked like they has spent all term on because it looked really good. And when my mum and dad saw mine they took a billion photos. That made me feel proud."
By Liban, Grade 4
"I liked everybody’s artwork. It looked like they spent a lot of time and didn’t rush it. My mum said the work was wonderful and liked how I put the hat on the fish. That made me feel like I chose a good piece to display."
By Miranda, Grade 5
"I think the art was really nice and I could tell that people put in a lot of details. My brother said the paintings were "tuff" which means really nice and impressive. Overall all the artworks were really beautiful and it was a nice experience."
Grade 3 Artworks
Grade 3 students have recently completed an art project inspired by Tracy Ann Finley, a self-taught artist known for her bold depictions of faces and animals. Her abstract works stand out for their striking use of contrasting colours and patterns. Students explored these techniques in their own creations, experimenting with oil pastels and paints. Here are some examples if what they created.
