Year 7 Interdisciplinary Presentations

November 17th 2025 marked the culmination of students work on A SOLUTION TO POLLUTION in 7J.  Students worked hard over 7 weeks to combine their studies in English, Science, Humanities and Mathematics to devise a feasible solution to pollution to benefit humanity.

These students made an impressive effort to devise a solution to a real world problem such as cleaning air pollution, plastic and microplastics, chemicals, water pollution, fast fashion and oil spills. They were supported by Mrs Maria Lelekakis - Mathematics, Mr Sean Foy – Science, Ms Tracy Luu – English and Mr Michael Conti – Humanities.

The students felt nervous and described the presentations they gave as “nerve wracking” but the whole experience was fun and new because “we were able to watch everyone else present their work and learn about how they solved problems.”

“Overall, we felt very successful because we spent a lot of time working on the Interdisciplinary unit so it was really good to pull all of our research and information from experts in their field into an information report and presentation for the staff panel.”

“Despite the stress of the experience we now feel a sense of pride and achievement.”

“It was really challenging because it pushed us out of our comfort zone which allowed us to grow. We learnt knew skills on the same issue through different subjects. This type of learning was definitely a new experience.”

These reflections were kindly shared by Chloe Haryadi and Lillyann Nguyen
