🎭 Performing Arts
Term 4
This term, all students had the wonderful opportunity to work with Mrs Lacey during our whole-school Circus Unit. Students explored a variety of circus equipment such as scarves, hoops, flower stix, juggling balls, and spinning plates. They learned to throw, catch, balance and spin with growing confidence.
Across the school, students developed coordination, creativity, and persistence as they built short routines to share. Each class finished the unit by performing a mini circus act, celebrating their new skills and the fun of learning something completely different.
Our Foundation students used Boomwhackers to rehearse and perform songs and instrumental patterns. They read from a range of musical symbols and applied them confidently in their performances.

Students explored music and instruments from around the world, including traditions from The Caribbean and West Africa. They discussed musical genres, listened to cultural examples, and played percussion instruments inspired by these regions.

Students in Years 3–6 focused on Bucket Drumming, rehearsing and performing rhythmic pieces using traditional notation and learned symbols. They developed ensemble skills, accuracy, and a strong sense of musical teamwork.

The choir visited John Hannah House this week to sing Christmas carols with the residents. Students performed a selection of well-known festive songs and brought plenty of smiles, claps, and even a few sing-along moments. The residents were delighted to have the children visit, and our students represented the school beautifully with their confident singing and respectful manners.
It was a wonderful opportunity for the choir to share their music with the community and to experience the joy that performance can bring to others. We look forward to continuing these community connections in the future.
