Child Safeguarding

At St Joseph's, we are committed to creating and maintaining a safe environment for children and young people, adhering to the Child Safe Standards and relevant legislation.
There are 11 Child Safe Standards - we will explore each one and how St Joseph's addresses the standards.
Victoria's Child Safe Standard 11 requires organizations to have clear and accessible policies and procedures that document how they are safe for children and young people. These policies and procedures should address all Child Safe Standards and be easy to understand for all stakeholders. Organizations must also ensure that leaders champion and model compliance, and that staff and volunteers understand and implement these policies.
At St Joseph’s, the safety and wellbeing of every child is our highest priority. In line with Child Safeguarding Standard 11, we have strong policies and procedures in place to ensure a safe environment for all students.
This includes:
- Comprehensive Policies and Procedures that guide safe practices across our school community.
- Induction for Staff and Contractors, ensuring everyone understands their responsibilities and our safeguarding expectations from day one.
- Volunteer Registration Process, including background checks and training, so all volunteers meet the highest standards of child safety.
These measures reflect our commitment to creating a secure, supportive environment where every child can thrive.
