Term 3 Week 9

STEAM UPDATE

The STEAM room has been amazingly busy with engineers, designers, creators and especially thinkers over the last Term and start of Term 4.

Students have created and tested disaster proof buildings, created new items from old clothing to help with clothing not going to the tip. Windcheaters were turned into vests, pillows and a bag! T-Shirts were cut and sewn or tied to create facy new shopping bags, students also created shorts, leg and hand warmers, pillows, dog toys and even puppets. Students worked in teams to create bridges across a decent sized gap within a time limit, all whilst determining the suitability of the construction set they had to use. Chariots and cars were designed and crafted for races with the Sphero Bolts.

Anyway they say a picture paints a thousand words , so check out the photos. Unfortuneately the videos of the races won't load, sorry Grade 3!! I will try and get it sorted for next time.

Music Room Update

Welcome back to Term 4!! Students in the Senior School are settling back into the swing of things after their break and last term's concert.

3/4 Update:

Student's have been working their way through the different Recorder Karate levels. Most of the student's have mastered the classic 'Hot Cross Buns' (white belt) and there are a few who have made it to orange and green belt this fortnight!

Levels harder than white belt have no notes to help, so the student's are doing a great job reading music independently and helping their peers.

We're also learning to play 'Eye of the Tiger' - keep an ear out for us!

5/6 Update:

Students are working on creating their own group performances. The student's have been given the theme of 'time' to base their performances on. They need to include elements of singing/rapping, beatboxing, percussion instruments and digital music. It's going to be great wathcing these performances come to life!!
