Connect: Year 3

October 2024

Welcome back to you, our beautiful families! We hope you all had a restful break and managed to get outside during the sunny moments. We have truly started our last term of the year in a most COLOURFUL way! We would like to extend a big thank you for all of your most generous donations. The kids had the most amazing day on Friday. See down further for some amazing shots of our day!

LIBRARY: Did you know we changed our library day? The Grade 3's now attend on a Wednesday. Please don't forget to send your child's library bag or satchel. It is a great opportunity to change up the books they read for home reading!

What's happening in the classrooms?

Literacy:

During our first fortnight back, the students have started to explore poetry. We have learned that poetry can cover lots of topics and come in many forms! The students have loved having an outlet to express themselves, to describe their favourite things and to practise their drafting and publishing. Check out some of the most amazing poetry below. We have started with acrostic poems using phrasing. Go Grade Three's!

Numeracy:

To kick start our Term Four, we have started looking at Multiplication and Division. We have been looking at how we can express the number sentences as well as looking at the patterns and 'tricks' we can use to help us remember our times tables. This term is an excellent opporunity to practise these at home, particularly the 3 and 4 multiplcation facts. See the link below for an active way to practise!

Inquiry:

This term we are completing our history unit 'First Contact'. This unit explores our history of European settlement within Australia by looking at points of views of the various communities. We will touch on some geography too as we explore how settlement took place. We will also touch on First Nations peoples perspectives and the rich and diverse culture which makes our country so special.

Wellbeing:

This term we will continue to focus on building relationships positively, understanding our rights and responsibilties and learning how our bodies and minds can flow through the zones of regulation.

SPLATACULAR!

I think fun was had by all.... students, teachers and families on this beautiful day on Friday! Check out some of the students, BEFORE and AFTER the fun run!
