VCE - Product Design & Technology

We have had major clean up in the Materials room over the holidays. We filled a trailer with waste. But what do you do with broken tools, small pieces of acrylic, empty paint cans and general waste? In today's world most people are aware of the risks and consequences of climate change and the depletion of our natural resources, and most people want to do their part to protect the environment by living a more sustainable lifestyle. This is where the 6 Rs of sustainability come into play - they represent a sustainable lifestyle framework to help us reduce our environmental footprint and live a more sustainable lifestyle.

The 6 R's are Rethink, Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Repair. This is the approach of the Seymour Refuse Station.

It is well worth a visit, to see where oil drums can go, cardboard to be recycled, White goods to be recycled and resold items. It was a really fun excursion and we learnt a lot about the 6 R's
