Principal's News

Dear Armadale Community
As we enter the final few weeks of this term, we would like to acknowledge the efforts of our PFA in planning for our 140th Birthday Celebration Fair. Work behind the scenes ensures that the day will truly be a celebration. Families will be treated to food including a BBQ, traditional carnival food and a bar for the adults, experiences including a petting zoo, reptile and lizards and a butterfly enclosure. Mini golf, arcade games, inflatables and carnival games will also be a big part of the day.
FAMILY CONFERENCES
Teachers are in the process of preparing for the Family Conferences which will be held this coming Monday and Tuesday. Children are expected to attend the conference and we look forward to strengthening this partnership to optimise the learning of each child.
If you have not yet booked, please do so via COMPASS.
BULLETIN FOCUS: STEM
This term our Year 5/6s have been participating in the INSPIRE ROBOTICS program, Robot Soccer.
The aim of the program is to develop children’s skills and expertise in sketching, working with electronics, programming & constructing small scale robotics projects. They have also been developing extensive problem-solving skills and improving their intuitive awareness of physics.
The children are in the process of creating a robot collaboratively following the process of:
- ASK – Define the problem.
- IMAGINE – Brainstorm solutions.
- PLAN – Consider how to best solve the problem.
- CREATE – Construct your solution.
- TEST – Determine how well your solution works.
- IMPROVE – Make your solution better.
They will be sharing some of these creations with their parents in their final session (last Monday of the term) and we hope to have some share these at our final Assembly on Tuesday 17 September.
Children in other year levels have also been engaging in STEM experiences designed by the classroom teachers. Please take the time to browse through this BULLETIN to read and see what your child has been learning and the skills they have been developing during STEM sessions.
Please take the time to watch the video presentation explaining what STEM looks like at our school.
Kind regards,
Rochelle Cukier and Connie Apostolos
