Year 7 Students Gain Insight from Refugee Guest Speaker

We are thrilled to share that our Year 7 students recently had the privilege of hosting a guest speaker, Somayeh, a refugee from Iran, to complement their book study of Detention by Tristan Bancks.

Somayeh shared her powerful personal story of resilience, hope and the challenges she faced on her journey to a new life.  Her firsthand account provided our students with a profound and empathetic understanding of the refugee experience, enriching their comprehension of the themes explored in the book.

This engaging session not only brought the narrative of Detention to life, but also fostered a deeper appreciation for the courage and strength of those who seek asylum.

Year 7 Maths Games Day

On 3 September, Year Seven students Chloe Li, Chelsea Hunyh, Kim Trac, Amy Tran, Lucy Chrichton, Willa Cusick, Brigid Govan and Agnese Camarda, travelled to Tintern Grammar to compete in the annual Year 7 Maths Games Day.

There were students from many different schools competing on the day.  The students were required to work in small groups to solve a variety of different maths problems and games.  It was a challenging day, but interesting and enjoyable.  Congratulations to Amy, Kim, Chelsea and Chloe whose table came eighth overall.  This is a great achievement. Also thank you to Mr Chan who came supported us on the day.

Year 8 Students Create Inspiring Posters on Saints

We are excited to share that our Year 8 students have recently completed a project in their Religious Education curriculum, where they created inspiring posters about saints they admire.

Through diligent research, students explored the extraordinary lives, miracles and good deeds of these remarkable individuals, from St. Francis of Assisi’s devotion to nature and the poor, to St. Joan of Arc’s courageous leadership and steadfast faith in the face of adversity.

This project allowed our students to understand the historical contexts and challenges these saints faced, and why they remain relevant role models in today’s society, demonstrating faith, compassion and perseverance that continue to inspire us all.  Please click on the pdf to see nine posters students have completed.
