This week in Respectful Relationships, Grade 2 students are partaking in a range of mindfulness activities to build strategies.


VOCABULARY

Mindfulness means paying attention to what’s happening right now, like how you’re feeling or what you’re doing, without getting distracted.


ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

With your child and or as a family, complete this Mindfulness Activities of…

 

Deep Breathing -  “Let’s practise deep breathing. Breathe in slowly through your nose, and then breathe out through your mouth. Imagine you’re blowing up a big balloon.”

 

Mindful Listening - : “Close your eyes and listen carefully. Can you hear any sounds around you? Maybe the wind outside or a bird singing?”

 

Body Scan -  “Let’s pay attention to different parts of our body. Start at your toes and move up to your head. Notice how each part feels.”

 

Mindful Eating - “When you eat a snack, try to really taste it. Notice how it feels in your mouth and how it tastes.”
