Next Thursday, St Edward's have 125 students participating in the Soccer and Netball Gala Day. Students who are participating need to find their own way to and from the events. We ask that students arrive by 8:45am, ready to start promptly at 9:30am. A reminder that all soccer players must wear shin pads.
If you are able to assist with umpiring or refereeing on the day, please email Mrs Gippel: nmcculloch@arm.catholic.edu.au

A huge shout out to all the students who represented the Armidale Diocese for Athletics in Glendale last Friday. A special mention to the students who were from St Edward's in that group. Not only did the students represent our school with pride, but showed the rest of the dioceses how amazing St Eddies kids are. A huge congratulations to Emily O'Connell for placing second in discus and making it in the Polding Team to participate at the State Championships in October.
Semi-Finals will be the week of the 19th November
Grand Finals will be the week of the 3rd December
PLEASE READ the email I received from Basketball connect
"We have had several incidences over the last few weeks of spectators sitting on the player/coaches benches (located either side of the scorebench) and refusing to move when requested to by our Court Supervisors.
The player/coaches benches are for the players and coaches ONLY. We need to make sure that the players and coaches have access to the entire bench during their game - whether there are players sitting on them or not.
If you are asked to move to another seating area by one of our Court Supervisors, cpould you please do so - the Court Supervisors are only doing their job in making sure that all of the games run as smoothly as possible.
We appreciate your assistance with this - please pass this information on to other spectators and family members who come along to watch the games who may not receive this email."
1. Spectator Behaviour - Code of Conduct
Please remember that Tamworth Basketball abide by the BNSW 'Zero Tolerance' Policy relating to the abuse of any referee, player, coach or official.
If our Court Supervisors witness any such behaviour you will be given a warning and/or asked to leave the stadium. It is important to remember that the referees are human, the coaches are volunteers, the players are kids (in the Junior comps) and the officials are only doing their job. More information relating to our policies can be found on our Website Tamworth Basketball Association | TidyHQ
2. Spectator Behaviour - Younger Children
We encourage all family members to come and support the players and referees during the competitions. Please be reminded that the Tamworth Sports Dome is a shared space with other business and organisations. Children can not be running around the foyer area, Rural Fit stairwell, grandstands or any other shared public space - this is for the safety of all users, staff and children. Please also be aware that children can not be running/playing around the edges of the basketball courts or seating areas - this is quite dangerous for the players, referees and officials. We have had quite a few near misses relating to this so far this competition and we would like to minimise the potential for a more serious incident to occur. It is the responsibility of parents to supervise their children whilst at the Sports Dome to ensure that their safety and the safety of other users is respected.
3. Rubbish
Please make sure at the end of your games that all rubbish is removed from the players benches, scoring benches and spectator seating areas. There are often other Sports Dome users that use the facility after our competition nights and we need to be able to leave the areas as clean as possible for their use.
4. Basketballconnect
Now that the draw is being finalised with most teams eligible for the weekly draws, all future draws for each competition will soon be available on Basketballconnect.
There will be from time to time some changes to the draws that will need to be made so I would recommend that you check the draw as close to the round game as possible. We also post our draws and any updates on our Facebook page and Website .
TBA would also like to take this opportunity to thank you for your patience and understanding during the transition from Gameday to Basketballconnect. We are still working out a few issues in consultation with BNSW but we are confident that these will be resolved soon.
5. It has been recently discovered that a lot of our younger players are logging into Basketballconnect, using a different email address. This is creating a lot of duplicate user profiles for individuals.
The representatives from GloryLeague have informed us that this issue of duplicate user profiles effects the capabilities of GloryLeague to function at it's potential.
Currently we are having to merge a lot of duplicate user profiles together repeatedly which is very time consuming to help GloryLeague to function properly.
Can we please ask that any younger player who is wanting to access their profile to view their player statisitics etc, do so by logging by using their parents email address and login details. This will ensure that each individual user maintains one profile on Basketballconnect and allows GloryLeague to operate at it's fullest potential.
TBA thanks you in advance for your ongoing support with this transition onto Basketballconnect.
TBA thank you for your time and we look forward to seeing you all on or around the courts soon.
Last Saturday 14th September saw a number of our students face their Grand Finals for their Hockey Club South United.
The first game started at 8.30am for the U10s mixed team with Ellie Palmer as goalie, Araya Morse in defence, and Phoebe McMahon as striker. The team came away with a 4-2 win. We then saw Ellie Palmer, Maddie Riordan, Millie Trappel and Sienna Erich enter their game at 10am with Millie as goalie, and Ellie, Maddie and Sienna playing strikers, mid fielders and defence. They came away with a win of 4-1.
Araya Morse, Nathan Rex and Ashton Jeffrey entered their U12 game at 10am as well, with Ashton as striker, Nathan as defender and Araya as a midfielder. As the girls cheered them on from the sidelines, the boys went into extra time winning 8-3.
The results from all games saw all three teams being named as Champions in their divisions. Our children demonstrated great sportsmanship across the day and throughout the season.
Congratulations to James O'Leary on receiving the most improved player, Coaches Player, at the NIAS presentation day.
