News from Foundation
Wow!!! What another amazing Term we have had in Foundation! It has been so wonderful to see so much learning and so much fun over the term! From celebrating our 100 days of school, to making lots of different types of puppets, performing little puppet plays and walking down to the Yarra Junction Library for an excursion! It has been a busy busy term that has gone by so quickly and we cannot believe that our wonderful Foundations have nearly finished their first year of school!!
Here's what we have been up to!
Maths
In Maths, we finished our unit on Sharing and Equal Groups. It was a great unit with lots of hands-on tasks and activities. The Foundation students learned how to share objects in equal amounts to make everyone have a fair share. The Foundation students also practised sharing odd numbers into groups and discovered how we can share with leftovers.
Inquiry- Puppet Showcase
This Term the Foundation students have been immersed in all things Puppets! They have discovered different types of puppets, retold fairy tale stories using puppets, discovered the materials needed to make puppets and much more! They have loved making different types of puppets such as stick puppets and sock puppets. For their final project, the Foundation students created String Puppets! They used a range of recycled materials such as foam balls as the heads, cardboard toilet rolls as the bodies, paddle pop sticks as arms and much more. They used paint and other craft materials such as googly eyes and pompoms for decorations! The String Puppets they created were characters from popular Fairy tale stories!
Here are their wonderful creations!
It was so wonderful having so many parents come along and join in celebrating their child's achievements!
Yarra Junction Library Visit & Teddy Bears Picnic Fun
Last week the F/1/2 students visited the Library for a story time session with Rachel! We danced and sang and of course, read lots of books with our teddies! After this, we headed to the park for a Teddy Bear Scavenger hunt and a Teddy Bears Picnic! Of course, we made sure to eat some Teddy bear biscuits and gummy bears! It was a wonderful day had by all!
