We are really proud of our German language program at St Paul and the amazing job that Mr Mayer does in engaging children in learning and using German. Having worked in a number of different schools with language programs, I can say with confidence that the level of engagement our children show in German and their practical use of the German language at school is of a really high standard. We know from many different research studies the benefits of learning a second language. It improves children's understanding of their first language, it improves memory and brain function, problem solving skills and fosters respect and understanding of other cultures.
Parents sometimes ask us what other learning opportunities are available in the community beyond St Paul. If you are interested in your child learning an additional language outside of school, as well as their German learning at St Paul, one opportunity you may want to consider is the School of Languages. The School of Languages offers after-hours classes in 22 languages at 25 different locations across the metropolitan area. Providing access, choice and continuity in languages learning to students from all sectors.
Their enrolment process for 2025 is now open! R-6 enrolments can be made via their new online enrolment form at R-6 Enrolment. Secondary students will need to complete an online Expression of Interest prior to enrolling. Students will receive an enrolment form in an email following contact from an Enrolment Officer.
