2025 Year 3

Meet our wonderful teachers...

3A: Ciona Cox (Team Leader)

Hello wonderful SMPS community,

My name is Miss Ciona and I will be teaching 3A in 2025. This will be my 10th year in teaching and my fourth as Team Leader of Year 3. I am really looking forward to getting know all the students and their families. There are so many exciting moments to come in Year 3!

I grew up in Scotland with my mum, dad and two older brothers. As a child I spent most of my time outdoors exploring the Scottish countryside and all the picture-perfect landscapes it has to offer. Think castles, snow covered mountains and hoping to catch a glimpse of the Loch Ness Monster. I began my teaching career in Scotland before moving to Melbourne in 2020. This will be my sixth year at South Melbourne Primary School.

Outside of school you can often find me painting, exploring the outdoors or sampling all the amazing food Melbourne has to offer. I have a beautiful Australian Shepherd dog called Juniper and I will happily show you a picture of her if you ask, I have many.

I am really looking forward to another fantastic year at SMPS.

3B: Shannon Coventry

Hello SMPS students and families! My name is Miss Shannon and in 2025, I will be teaching 3B. I’m so excited to be teaching Year 3 for a second time and I am really looking forward to getting to know more of beautiful students and families at SMPS.

I went to primary school on Kangaroo Island and had a very adventure filled childhood growing up in many different places. When we moved to Melbourne, I went to school in the beautiful, leafy Warrandyte.

Outside of school, I am often spending time with family and friends, going on lots of walks around The Tan and exploring new cafes and restaurants with my wonderful husband, Josh.

I hope everyone has a fantastic summer break and I can't wait to see you all in 2025! 😊

3C: Shannon Sim

Hello SMPS students and families!

My name is Miss Shannon, and I will be teaching Grade 3C in 2025. This will be my sixth-year teaching, and my third year at SMPS. I can’t wait to get to know each student and their families!

I grew up on a dairy farm in New Zealand with my mum, dad and two younger sisters. I spent most of my childhood surrounded by nature, climbing trees, riding motorbikes and milking cows. In July 2022, my fiancé Finn and I made the leap to Melbourne, and since then, every moment has been an adventure. We can say with ease that we have found home!

Outside of school you can find me immersed in sports, adventuring and hiking in the outdoors, gardening or lapping up cuddles with my two gorgeous cats Yuki and Tui.

I hope you have a great holiday, and I look forward to being back at SMPS in 2025.
