Vocational Education

Vocational Education & Training (VET) at Mazenod has helped students achieve great success this year. Furthermore, the VCE Vocational Major (VCE VM) is now part of the VCE course, enabling viable pathways into ongoing education, post-secondary schooling.

Many students have used these pathways to apply for apprenticeships and traineeships for Year 13. It is particularly rewarding to also see our VCE VM students apply for a pathway into university.  One of our VCE VM students, Dylan Schmitt, applied for the Associate Degree of Education at Deakin University, which pathways directly into the Bachelor of Education (Primary).  This is just one of the excellent outcomes our students experience in their journey from the VCE VM and VET into tertiary studies. The VCE VM accommodates for multiple pathways and is not limited to trades like Carpentry, Plumbing or Electrical. We have students undertaking Enabling Technologies, Music Production, Early Child Education, Allied Health, Fashion and Fundamental Design.

Congratulations to all our VET and VCE VM students who have completed their studies and examinations this year. I was very pleased to see some VCE VM students sit their Year 12 VET exams.  I’d like to take this opportunity to personally thank the VET and VCE VM teaching and support staff, without which the program would not be able to run as effectively as it does.
