Bonjour Moriac! What a wonderful year 2023 has been!! I would like to thank each and every student at Moriac Primary School for embracing French language and culture this year, it has been a truly wonderful year of learning. I have thoroughly enjoyed the year and can't wait to see what 2024 brings!
This term the grade 3-6 students have been working hard on directional language. We have looked at French towns and compared them to Australian towns. One major difference we noted was the year buildings were built. Many French towns have buildings from hundreds of years ago and they often have a 'town square' (une place). Australian towns generally have newer buildings, and instead of a town square, there might be a football oval or a cricket club where the community can meet and have events instead.
Alongside learning the vocabulary related to the buildings and businesses in French towns, we also looked at giving and receiving directions. Students learnt how to say simple directions such as 'go straight ahead' (allez tout droit), and 'turn right' (tournez à droite). To showcase their knowledge, students created their own French towns in Minecraft and took videos of themselves walking around the town, naming buildings and describing the directions they are moving in.
Congratulations to all students who managed to complete their Minecraft videos - it took a lot of courage to then share them with their peers. Below are the links to some of the stand out videos - well done to these students for their dedication to the French language, for being a risk-taker and for continuously trying their best in class!
