A Message from

Hannah & Keir

We would like to acknowledge and honour the Wurundjeri Woi-Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation as the traditional custodians of the land on which our school stands. We pay our respects to all First Nations elders, past present, and emerging.

Pause & Play On

Last week we started to implement a new practice here at school that we are calling Pause & Play On; each day at the halfway point of lunch, a bell will sound in the yard and everyone is asked to Pause their play for a moment before Playing On.

What is a pause? A pause is any type of break in play that allows students to check in with themselves: students may go for a drink, go to the bathroom, change the game they want to play, remove their jumper, visit Sprout - you get the idea!

Why are you doing this? Our students spend 50 minutes in the yard each lunch. For some of our students, this can be a long time that is hard to navigate. By breaking up the time, it provides more structure to their break. For other students, lunch time can be a very intense experience - a pause reminds them to regulate their body and their emotions.

Timeline for Classes

2024 Class lists will be sent home via Sentral this Wednesday afternoon with our Whole School Transition occurring the following Wednesday. Class Formation is a complex process with many stakeholders and needs to consider; we never expect everything to be ‘perfect’ but after many layers of consultation, we feel we have created a fantastic list of classes for next year.

If you have concerns about your child’s class that you would like to speak with school leadership about before the Whole School Transition day, please email both Hannah (hannah.reid@education.vic.gov.au) and Keir (keir.jasper@education.vic.gov.au) with your concern. Please understand that at this stage, changes to class formations only occur under very specific circumstances and conditions.

Student Free Day

Next Monday 11th December we will have our final Student Free Day for the year. On this day our 2024 teaching teams will plan for the beginning of 2024, to ensure we start the year with intention! This means school will not run as usual. OSHC will run an all day program for students from 7:30am - 6pm (check the OSHC page for more information).

The School Council will be approving the student free days for 2024 later this week, so we can share those dates with you soon.

Lost Property

With just over two weeks left of our school year, it’s a great time to come and check out the Lost Property here at school! Items that are named are returned to students each Friday, but unnamed items must be reclaimed by their owner (or perhaps claimed by a new owner) before the end of the year - everything that is leftover will be taken to an op shop.

Helpers for Moving Day

On the 18th of December (while most of the school is having its fun day!) we will be moving some furniture around to reconfigure classrooms from 2023 to 2024. We are asking for any members of our community who might be available to come along and help us move some furniture or boxes. If you are interested in helping out on this day, please contact Audrie (audrie.sextonmcguire@education.vic.gov.au
