Year 3

Year 3 have been studying Persuasive Texts this term, in particular advertisements. We linked this with our Geography Unit ‘The Earth’s Environment’ and our STEM investigations where Year 3 have been creating solutions to help reduce the amount of pollution in the ocean, which all have a focus on sustainability. Year 3 read the text ‘Let’s Save The Great Barrier Reef’ which gave the students a range of reasons as to why we MUST do more to protect The Great Barrier Reef. Year 3 then looked at effective advertisements and what persuasive techniques were used to catch the reader's attention such as a headline, call to action, offer and even the use of puns! Finally, Year 3 combined everything they have learnt and created their own advertisements explaining why we must save the great barrier reef.
