It's Time to Get Active

On the 7th and 8th of October 2023, the annual Beaufort WalkFest will take place around the local area. This is a free event, to help promote health, physical activity and new social connections in our town.

Beaufort WalkFest is a weekend of guided tours in and around the rural Beaufort area, which include walks of all different distances and difficulties (including a heritage walk), to suit all ages and abilities. It's a great opportunity to get out into nature with your friends and family and into your local community without even starting your car, you can just walk!

Being physically active can improve your brain health and cognition, help you manage/lose weight, while reducing the risk of fatal diseases such as obesity, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, depression, anxiety, dementia and many types of cancer. Statistics show that around one third (35%) of Australian adults report low levels of weekly exercise and only one quarter (28%) of adults meet the guidelines.

One of the main walks in Beaufort is around the Beaufort Lake. The locals use the lake for their daily exercise and enjoyment and the scenery is beautiful.

Now, you may be thinking, ‘Why should I come to WalkFest?’ Well, not only is it extremely beneficial for your health, you'll be supporting the Pyrenees Shire and all the people who work so hard to bring this fantastic event to our town every year.
