Term 3, Week 8

Book Week

How beautifully did our students do during Book Week. There were some definite shining stars when it came to costumes!

Book Fair

Hopefully you managed to make time for your students to attend the Book Fair and share your love and enthusiasm for all things reading, imagination and creativity.

PLC’s

PLC’s are officially back in action, and what a successful first week we had moderating. So much questioning, consideration, pondering, listening, clarifying, posing and learning. My hope is that you found the changes made to bring about more authentic, purposeful conversations leading to action through creating our student goals and developing an electronic portfolio of resources to support you now and into the future. Here’s to driving improvement in teacher practice and improving student outcomes!

A gentle reminder to ensure you bring one piece of evidence per student in your class, aligned to the curriculum focus.

This weeks PLC sees us together once again on Thursday with a focus on Reading and Viewing.

Locking Doors

Please, please, please ensure your doors and locked when you are both in and outside of the classroom. We know that for some of our students, an open door is an opportunity to explore, and redirecting away from all that is happening in the classroom is challenging.

Playground Duty Supervision

Please ensure you are at your rostered duty on time. This means ensuring you allow an adequate amount of time to get to your designated space to ensure you are there ready to go. This enables us as a collective to fulfil our duty of care. In the event someone is not on duty, please contact them to make them aware (give them a gentle reminder). In the event this occurs again, please let me know.

Absences

Teachers, please note, when a staff member is absent from your classroom and not replaced, the following steps should be taken when supplementing the playground roster.

Step 1: Discuss within the team at the beginning of the day. Is there capacity to fulfil the playground roster with existing staff and/or buddy classrooms? Can breaks be maneuvered to ensure all one to one supervisions are honoured during playground time?

Step 2: If you cannot fill the staff members duty, please call me so that I can go in search of someone to do this, prior to the duty time.

If you have any questions please ask away!

SharePoint Out of School Updates

Please ensure you update SharePoint if you are going to be out of the school in the ‘Staff Out of School’ section underneath the staff absence list. This is an individual responsibility and should be actioned when you are for whatever reason working off site. This includes if you are attending a mainstream school to support a dual enrolment. If you are unsure of how to do this, please enlist the help of your buddy teachers and ES.

Incident Reports

A reminder that it is crucial that incident reports get completed via Xuno, particularly so for moderate to more severe incidents that occur. As a leadership team the data that is taken from Xuno is used on a fortnightly basis to discuss students presenting with distressing behaviours on a recurring basis. This data also assists us in identifying students in need of a new Behaviour Support Plan and/or Behaviour Response Plan, or the revising of existing plans.

Assemblies

We can’t wait to see what you have in store for us Room 13 and 16!

Da Vinci’s Apprentice

We have a music incursion taking place on Wednesday 30th August between 9:55-10:25am in the CLH.

Fathers Day Stall

The Fathers Day Stall will take place on Thursday 31st August and 1st September.

Have a great week everyone!
