From the Principal

Hello everyone

How quickly the year is flying by and we are now at the end of another incredible Term.

Congratulations to our Year 12 students Daisy, Charlie, Jonah, Erjan, Orlando, Duncan, Liam and Nelson who have completed 13 years of schooling and their Higher School Certificate. Our Year 12 students stay with us through the next term where we will have celebrations at Graduation and Presentation Day. A big thank you to Stage 6 Leader, Mrs Jessica Hodder, teachers and support staff who have nurtured the students over the past 2 years to ensure their success.

The School Concert, 'Boot Scootin' Boogie' has been a hit with the majority of our students taking to the stage, singing and dancing up a storm. The students and staff put in a huge amount of work to ensure that every child has the opportunity to showcase their talents and I especially thank Mrs Hudson and Mrs Priest for their overall organisation. Go to 'What's Happening'

Farewell to Mrs Erin Fischer who finishes up at our school after starting seven years ago in 2017. We wish her the very best in her next endeavours. Thank you to our 3 university students, Mrs Inga Whan and Ms Jasmine Callen who return to Newcastle after 10 weeks with us and to Ms Maxi Briton who will be staying on and joining our staff for the rest of the year and next year. It has been wonderful to have young professionals working in our school, bringing their enthusiasm to classes and our school overall. I wish Inga and Jasmine all the best in their teaching careers and looking forward to Maxi joining our staff.

Mr Lachlan Wilson graduated last week and we congratulate him on joining the most noble of professions, teaching. He has had a very positive impact on the students in his classes and our school community.

Occupational Therapists Cory and Olivia from Seed Paediatric Services have been working with us to provide resources and advice for staff, and support to students. Their knowledge and work has been greatly appreciated and I thank them for their services. In Term 4 we will continue our partnership with Director of Seed, Michelle Maunder, whose high-level expertise has been shared with our school community ongoing since 2018.

Our school was awarded a NSW Secretary's Award for a School Initiative - such a well-deserved acknowledgment of our innovative program. For more information about the presentation go to 'Anson in Review' .

Congratulations to Dylan, Felicity and Chelsea who proudly represented our school at the NSW Secondary Schools Athletics Championships. Photos and results are in 'Active and Alive'

The new mobile phone policy begins at the start of Term 4. A letter outlining our expectations was sent out to all families this week. Our procedure will be to ensure that phones are off and away in either bags or class storerooms. Thank you for discussing this with your child over the next few weeks.

Finally a big congratulations to our very own Toot Keegan who was recognised last weekend with a dedication in her honour. Everyone who meets Toot can understand why she was selected for this honour - read more in 'What's Happening'. We are so very proud of all that she has done for our school and the broader community.

Looking forward to Year 12 graduation, presentation ceremonies, School Spectacular, Orange Ex-services Christmas party, reports and lots of fun learning in the Term ahead.

Enjoy the warmth of the Spring holidays with your family and friends.
