On Thursday the 24th of August, we had our annual Book Week dress up day. This year we were able to bring the whole school together for a parade in our incredible new gym at the Molesworth Street Campus- the first whole school parade for Book Week since 2019! Our Errol students first paraded up Haines Streetin their costumes to the bewilderment and delight of the local traffic.
Once at the gym, the Year 6 school leaders did a beautiful job of keeping things on track, despite a pesky pigeon trying to run the show. There were no teachers or leadership to be found to keep things under control- just a bunch of Smurfs, Bears and Barbies!
In the classroom and library, students have been exploring the shortlisted titles of the CBCA Book of the Year awards, as well as this year’s Book Week theme of “Read, Grow, Inspire”. They were able to share these with their families during open classrooms, as well as go on a story walk and buy some books in our second hand book sale.
It was so lovely to walk around the school and hear students being read to, students reading, and students discussing books with each other. But, most importantly doing what we do as a community every day at NMPS- sharing our love of reading and books!
The Book Week celebrations continue this week with a variety of performances and author talks.
