Reading
CURRICULUM FOCUS
The students will be continuing on with their learning about synthesising.
VOCABULARY
Synthesising: being aware of how thinking changes and evolves while reading a text.
Change: adjusting our thinking.
Evolve: improving or getting better.
Learn: gaining new information/understanding.
ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING
Before your child reads to you, have them identify what they already know about the book / topic. Maybe suggest a Non Fiction text if they have one.
After they have read to you, ask your child to identify some new information they have learnt from the text.
For example:
Before I started reading, I knew giraffes lived in Africa. After I finished reading, I now know that no two giraffes have the same pattern on their skin.
