CURRICULUM FOCUS

The students will be continuing on with their learning about synthesising.


VOCABULARY

 

 

Synthesising: being aware of how thinking changes and evolves while reading a text.

Change: adjusting our thinking.

Evolve: improving or getting better.

Learn: gaining new information/understanding. 


ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

Before your child reads to you, have them identify what they already know about the book / topic. Maybe suggest a Non Fiction text if they have one. 

 

After they have read to you, ask your child to identify some new information they have learnt from the text. 

 

For example:

Before I started reading, I knew giraffes lived in Africa. After I finished reading, I now know that no two giraffes have the same pattern on their skin.
