Big Sister Club and Duke of Edinburgh Award-OLSH Primary School Visit

The Big Sister Club at Brigidine has had much success over a number of years. The program is intended to help and mentor our junior students with their Maths and/or English studies at the college, as well as for the senior students to share their expertise and high school experience with the junior students.

A wonderful opportunity has become available for our senior students, who have volunteered to tutor younger students through the Big Sister Club to mentor Stage 3 students at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Primary School, Randwick.

The Big Sister Club and the Duke of Edinburgh Award have collaborated in allowing our Year 11 students to earn their community service hours by mentoring the Newman students in Stage 3 in Mathematics and English. Our Year 11 students are: Hannah Berry, Sienna Christiansen, Katreen Diab, Amy Huang, Annabelle Molloy and Tong Tong Shield. They are great ambassadors of our College. They are very excited and enthusiastic about the initiative, particularly those who went to Our Lady of Sacred Hear Primary School. Seeing their primary school teachers and their old school has brought so much joy and sentiments. Their first day was well received by the primary school students who where  helped in Maths Olympiad and debating preparations.
