Greetings to our Valued Brigidine Community,

We trust this newsletter finds you in good health and high spirits. As we stride through another term replete with learning and development, we are pleased to provide you with an update on significant events, initiatives, and prospects at our esteemed institution.

Father’s Day Mass and Breakfast Celebration

We are thrilled to unveil an exciting event this Friday at 8:00 a.m.: the Father’s Day Mass and Breakfast celebration. This occasion offers a splendid opportunity for us to unite and commemorate our fathers and grandfathers. It's a moment to acknowledge the exceptional influence these fatherly figures wield in our lives. We cordially invite all fathers and grandfathers to partake in this remarkable affair.

Year 12 Formal Academic Milestones

As we approach the culmination of formal academic sessions for our Year 12 scholars, let us take a pause to salute their unwavering diligence and commitment. With just four weeks left, our thoughts and wishes are with the Year 12 cohort. They have undeniably left an indelible mark on our College community, and we extend our heartiest wishes for their impending weeks of learning. May they use this time judiciously to delve into their studies and consolidate their grasp of pivotal concepts.

A Spectacular Showcase of HSC Creativity

In a resplendent celebration of artistic prowess, we are beyond thrilled to shower our Music, Visual Arts, and Design Technology students with resounding praise. The recent HSC Showcase left us awe-inspired, witnessing the magnificence of their creative expressions. Each piece of music, every brushstroke, and all the intricate designs on display resonated with boundless talent and devotion. These young visionaries have illuminated our College with their ingenious performances, evocative artworks, and ingenious designs. We salute them for their dedication and applaud the teachers who have nurtured these exceptional talents.

Brigidine's Benevolent Ventures

Delight fills us as we share the triumph of our recent endeavour – the Crazy Hair and Sock Day held on August 25th. The entire College rallied together, showcasing spirited support for the Kids Cancer Project and the Charitable Works Fund. The day was an exuberant display of creativity and benevolence, and our heartfelt gratitude extends to all who participated. Your contributions are poised to effectuate meaningful transformations in the lives of the less fortunate.

Mobile Phone Etiquette Reminders

A gentle reminder to parents and students alike regarding our enduring mobile phone policy. For years, we have maintained a prohibition on mobile phone usage within our campus premises. We kindly seek your cooperation in upholding this directive, and we encourage you to engage your daughters in a dialogue about the significance of adhering to these guidelines. Should you require communication with the College, we beseech you to connect through our Front Reception, ensuring swift delivery of your message to your daughter. Reaching out to students via their mobile devices during school hours contradicts our established procedures and standards.

Uniform Harmony

A uniform policy marked by consistency is pivotal in nurturing a sense of unity and discipline within our College community. We earnestly implore your support in ensuring that all students conform to the College's uniform directives. This encompasses donning the blazer when travelling to and from school, eschewing visible undergarments, and wearing the Sports jacket exclusively with the Sports uniform. Your cooperation in this regard is profoundly valued, as adherence to uniform norms is a cornerstone of the enrolment pact endorsed by all families. Instances of non-compliance will, regrettably, necessitate application of demerits and fitting consequences as per our policy.

Rowing Foundation Program Unveiled

We are thrilled to announce an exciting collaboration between Sydney Catholic Schools (SCS) and St George Rowing Club, resulting in the inception of the Rowing Foundation Program at our College. Slated to commence in Term 4, 2023, this program proffers an exclusive avenue for students in Years 8 through 11 to embrace the world of rowing.

  • Program Particulars: The Rowing Foundation Program will unfold at the Wolli Creek Rowing Shed, initially encompassing students from Casimir Catholic College Marrickville (CoEd), Brigidine College Randwick (Girls), and Marcellin College Randwick (Boys). Anchored in the Australian Institute of Sport athlete development framework (FTEM), particularly as a Foundation 1 initiative, this program requires no prior rowing experience. The five-week program ensures ample support, an enviable student-to-coach ratio, and the chance to temporarily become St George Rowing Club members.
  • Parent Insight Session: To furnish a comprehensive understanding of the Rowing Foundation Program, a virtual parent insight session via Zoom is scheduled for Wednesday, 20 September 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Your participation is strongly encouraged. For those unable to attend live, a recording shall be made accessible upon request.
  • Expression of Interest and Registration: To secure an invitation to the Zoom session, kindly submit an expression of interest through the following link. Invitations will be dispatched to the provided email addresses.

We are confident that this alliance between SCS Colleges and the St George Rowing Club will provide our students with an enriching experience that transcends traditional confines, cultivating teamwork, discipline, and physical wellness. We extend an invitation to all parents and students interested in exploring this exceptional opportunity.

Thank you for your continued support and engagement within our cherished College community.

May providence shine upon you.

With warm regards,

Mrs Sharyn Quirk
