Meet a student

10 minutes with….

Year 10 Student Caitlin Vaughan

She tells us a little more about herself … in 10 minutes.

Tell us a little about your life outside of school? E.g. Family, hobbies. Passions

I live in a sporty family with two older brothers. Outside of school I coach tennis and play tennis for the majority of my week. In my free time away from tennis and school I love spending time with my family and two dogs, and I love supporting my soccer team Liverpool.

What do you like most about being a student at Marian College?

Marian College is full of opportunities which allow you to try new things and improve different skills. Being at this school, I have been able to create lots of friends during the sporting events and different classes. It is a great community to be a part of.

Who inspires you?

A family member who inspires me would be my older brother Dylan. He inspires me because I have seen him put so much hard work into tennis and achieve great things from his talent. He is a left hander so watching him play is really enjoyable and I have always looked up to him.

What are the biggest challenges facing teenage girls today?

Since the Covid lockdown I believe teenage girls struggle now to socialise with others. Being locked up for 2 years not seeing friends and some family made it hard for most people to socialise and still today people struggle to socialise. People rely more on social media now than actually being face to face with others.

What advice would you give to students at Marian College?

I would tell them to never give up, even when it gets hard. Because the journey is always worthwhile. I want to tell the students that there are people in our lives who are ready to support us no matter what and are still very proud of us despite our failures.

Favourite food & drink?

My favourite foods would be beef biryani and peking duck and my favourite drinks would be nutrient water.

Favourite holiday destination?

My favourite destination would be Queensland, Australia. I enjoy being up there to see my dad’s mates and for the beautiful weather. It has always been a pleasure going to Queensland every year.

Favourite TV show, Movie, Book?

Favourite Book: Jordan Henderson - The Autobiography. Favourite Movie: Transformers Movies. Favourite Series: Full House

What are your dreams for the future?

My dreams for the future would be to be a sports scientist or to go down a school teacher pathway.

Which 5 people in history would you like to invite to a dinner party?

Roger Federer, Jordan Henderson, Marcus Bontempelli, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino.
