From the Classroom - B1 (Mrs Brown)
Kindness, Courage, Respect
In B1, we have a strong focus on showing kindness and treating others with respect. There are also many students who show courage throughout the school day. Here are some ways in which B1 show our school values:
Kindness: In B1 we have a 'Kindness Wall'. Students who have done something kind for someone else can have their name added to the wall. It is lovely to see students nominating each other to have their name added to the wall because someone has shown them kindness. We aim to have the wall full by the end of the year.
Respect: One of our classroom expectations is that we treat all members of our class and our school with respect. We have started doing a yarning circle during the week which allows students to demonstrate respect by listening to the person who is speaking and creating an environment where each student feels comfortable in sharing their thoughts during the yarning circle.
Courage: Students in B1 show courage each day by doing many things such as having a go at something they may find tricky, putting their hand up to answer a question and by speaking up if they feel someone has not been respectful.
Outstanding Achiever: Each week B1 students nominate someone they think should be our Outstanding Achiever. They nominate a classmate based on our school values of kindness, courage and respect. Each week during Respectful Relationships we do our nominations and a new Outstanding Achiever is chosen.
