Message from the Principal

Mrs Bronwyn Underwood

Dear Parents and Carers,

On Tuesday November 14, twenty children in Years 3-6 travelled to the University of New England in Armidale to take part in the inaugural Inspired Readers Festival. We enjoyed an absolutely amazing day. The children attended workshops presented by four fabulous children's authors - Tristan Bancks, Nat Amoore, Oliver Phommavahn and Jacqueline Harvey. The children had the opportunity to meet and greet with each author and have books signed.

Connor Mitchell received a gift bag on the day, as winner of the Design a Book Cover competition. Well done Conner and well done all the students who attended, displaying beautiful manners and fabulous participation. It was a very worthwhile day out. Thank you to staff members Isabella Rasche and Emma Martin for accompanying the students.

Also on Tuesday, staff members Cathy Shepherd, Amanda McNair, Breanna Todd and Kimberly Miller met with Kerrie Priddis from the Catholic Schools Office to develop a scope and sequence for the teaching of AUSLAN and Aboriginal Language in our school. Both these components of language learning can be integrated across the curriculum and we look forward to the children working towards achieving the outcomes for both as we progress into 2024 and beyond.

Work on our roof is progressing and we expect the new roof to be tiled within the coming weeks. You will have noticed the scaffolding already assembled ready to go. The next works will be external painting of the Admin building, bell tower and the PLT and installation of ducted air in the PLT room. The shade sail will be installed to cover the playground equipment and sandpit before the end of December. The Catholic Schools Office is paying for the roof, the school is paying for the painting and the airconditioning and a state government grant is paying for the shade sail. We are slowly improving our infrastructure and will continue to upgrade our facilities into 2024.

Teaching staff members have commenced writing Semester Two reports. The report is an overview of your child's progress during Terms 3 and 4 only. Reports will be issued on Friday December 8 giving you a chance to meet with your child's teacher the last week of Term to discuss the report if needed.

Enjoy a fabulous weekend,

Bronwyn
