Boorowa Combined Schools Touch Netball Carnival: A Roaring Success!

The recent Boorowa Combined Schools Touch Netball Carnival was nothing short of a triumph, bringing together the local community and creating an atmosphere filled with joy and excitement. The event not only showcased the remarkable talent of the participating students but also served as a fundraising bonanza for each of the schools involved.

This year's carnival was especially significant as it marked the first time in four years that the event could take place. Previous cancellations were due to the challenges posed by COVID-19 and flooding. The return to the field was met with sunny and favourable weather, adding to the overall positive atmosphere of the day.

With 149 netball teams and 196 touch teams competing, the carnival was a hive of activity, featuring a staggering 856 games throughout the day. The competition unfolded across 27 touch fields and 22 netball courts, making it a true spectacle of sportsmanship and camaraderie.

What made this event even more special was the outstanding contribution of our secondary students. They were the backbone of the carnival, taking on various roles as ground marshals, referees, errand runners, and even baristas. Their dedication and enthusiasm were truly commendable, not only representing our school with excellence but also contributing significantly to the seamless execution of the carnival. The students' involvement was a testament to their responsibility and willingness to give back to the community. They showcased a positive spirit that made us all proud.

None of this would have been possible without the invaluable support of our teachers and parents. They generously dedicated their time and effort to ensure the carnival's success. Their involvement, whether through coaching, canteen helping, BBQ cooking, coffee making, organizing, or simply cheering from the sidelines, was fundamental to the day's triumph.

As we wrap up this fantastic event, we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make it possible. The Boorowa Combined Schools Touch Netball Carnival not only raised much-needed funds for our schools but also brought immeasurable joy and a sense of community to everyone involved. We look forward to many more successful and enjoyable events in the future, and we couldn't do it without the unwavering support of our students, teachers, parents, and the entire Boorowa community. Thank you for your continued dedication and commitment.

Year 9/10 Visual Art

In Term 3 9/10 Visual Art studied van Gogh's painting "Sunflowers" and other artworks by this artist.

Their practical task was to recreate "Sunflowers" by giving it a different, personal meaning; and changing the imagery to fit the new meaning and theme. The students focus was on the postmodern frame and the concepts of appropriation and recontextualisation.

The artworks the students have created give great insight into their personal interests and personal lives.

Stage 5 Agriculture

Stage 5 Agriculture have been busy this term looking at Plant Production. Students picked flowers at the farm and pressed them to look the anatomy of a flower. Students then made bookmarks out of the pressed flowers.

The class has also been busy harvesting the vegetables they planted last term and have grown some great broccoli, brown onions, spinach and herbs.

Kind regards,

Halloween

In celebration of Halloween, and to raise funds for their formal next year, Year 11 students organised a costume/dress-up day for all students at Boorowa Central School. It was great to see so many amazingly creative outfits across the school. Students were also able to purchase popcorn to enjoy alongside their fancy frocks. Year 11 kept to a Despicable Me theme, dressing as Margo, Edith, Agnes, and Vector. Alongside them, staff dressed as Minions and Mr Jones joined in the fun as Gru. It was so great to see so many people engaged in this community spirit and supporting our Year 11 students. We’re excited to see what’s in store next.

Boorowa Central School Cricket Team go down swinging to Coolamon.

The Boorowa Central School cricket team travelled to Wallendbeen to face Coolamon Central School in the NSW Central Schools Knockout. Although the result didn't go our way, the boys displayed exceptional talent and the true spirit of sportsmanship throughout the match.

Coolamon set a formidable target of 188 on the board, capitalizing on our team's missed opportunities to take key catches. However, there were shining moments with the ball as Trent emerged as the standout bowler, delivering a remarkable performance with figures of 5-28 off 8 overs.

Fergus also made a notable contribution, taking 3-14 off 8 overs. Their efforts kept the opposition in check and gave us a chance after a sloppy first session.

In our chase, the boys struggled to find their rhythm, losing early wickets due to some rash shots. Trent once again stood out, this time with the bat, showing his resilience with a hard-fought 31. Unfortunately, he ran out of partners, and Boorowa was bowled out for 66.

Highlights of the match also included Tristen's exceptional fielding skills, as he took four catches, contributing significantly to the team's efforts. Additionally, Taylen's perseverance was evident as he actually put bat to ball before being skittled for a duck.

While the result may not have been in our favor, the team should be proud of their efforts and the way they represented our school and community.
