Assembly

The next Morris Assembly will take place on Monday 6 November. As The Farrall Centre is unavailable due to the TCE Art Exhibition, the assembly will take place outside in the grounds and will commence at 2.15pm. We welcome families to attend.

Years 5 and 6 Marimba Ensembles - Marimba Mania

Friday 3 November

The Friends’ School Years 5 and 6 Marimba Ensembles will be participating in the  annual Marimba Mania Concert, which will take place on Friday 3 November. The event will see students from schools across Hobart combine to create an incredible, massed Marimba ensemble. The concert will take place at the Kingston Community Hub, 7 Goshawk Way, Kingston. There will be a public performance from 12.30-1.30pm which parents and friends are welcome to attend. This is a free event for parents and friends and no ticket is required. Please note that there is NO EVENING CONCERT THIS YEAR. Students will depart school at 9.30am and return at approximately 2.30pm.  Students should wear their Formal School Uniform, including shell jacket and bring a packed lunch, afternoon snack, drink bottle and hat. Years 1 and 2 Learn to Swim Program

Kindergarten Excursion - Hobart Rivulet

Wednesday 8 November

To celebrate all the learning and action the Kindergarten children have taken regarding their kinship with platypuses this year, we will be visiting the Hobart Rivulet Platypus mural in South Hobart. This excursion will take place on Wednesday 8 November. Buses will depart from Argyle Street at 11.45am and return at approximately 1.00pm. The short experience will include a visit from Pete Walsh at the mural, and a walk along the rivulet to pick up litter and maybe even spot a platypus! Children will need to bring their hats.

JSSATIS Athletics Carnival

Thursday 9 November

The JSSATIS Athletics Carnival will be held on Thursday 9 November at the Domain Athletics Centre. Students will travel by bus to and from the carnival and need to bring a packed lunch, snacks and a drink. Selected students in Years 3-6 will be notified in due course. Year 5 Excursion to the Museum of Old & New Art (MONA)

Friday 10 November

On Friday 10 November, Year 5 students are travelling to the Museum of Old & New Art (MONA) as a provocation for their final Inquiry, How we express ourselves. Students will explore the central idea, “Creative thinking unlocks a world of possibilities” as they look at different elements and purposes of art, consider perspective and react to different art works. Students will leave school at 9.30am and travel to MONA by bus, returning at approximately 3.10pm. Full sports uniform is required, as well as a hat, water bottle, morning tea and lunch. No lunch orders on this day. Parents are welcome to attend if they have a current Working with Vulnerable People card, however, they need to make their own way there and back. Note that for all Friends’ School volunteer activities you will also need to complete a Volunteer Registration Form. Please contact your class teacher if you are interested in accompanying the students on this day.

Year 4 Camps

Wednesday 15 - Friday 17 November (one night each class)

On Wednesday 15 November, the Year 4OA class will be travelling to Orana for an overnight camp, returning on Thursday 16 November. On Thursday, 16 November Year 4K class will be travelling to Orana for their overnight camp and will return on Friday, 17 November. Both classes aim to achieve similar outcomes from their camp experience. Additional information about the camp will be sent through Operoo, where parents are expected to complete a permission form for their child. We are looking forward to this overnight experience with the Year 4 classes.

If your child will be absent from school for the day please advise the Morris Office (phone: 6210 2228, or email: morrisadmin@friends.tas.edu.au ) and the classroom teacher before 9.00am. We appreciate your support in this process.
