This week in Reading we are learning to infer. 

VOCABULARY

Infer: Using text clues and prior knowledge to make an educated guess. 

Text clues: Using pictures, text, front cover and blurb, to help our understanding of a text.

Schema: Information we already know.

ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

When Reading with your child, stop and ask what the important information is. Then continue reading. When you finish reading the book you can combine all those important text clues , and what your child already knows identify the main idea.
