Catholic Identity

Mercy Prayer

We pray for the Sisters of Mercy, who established our school and for the priests who have  served at St. Mary’s.

It is through their vision,  determination and strong faith that we enjoy the benefits of a Catholic Education here in Mooroopna.

We are proud to be a Mercy School, where the values of love and justice are taught and lived every day.

Reminder NEWS!

October - Month of the Rosary.

Catholics traditionally observe October as the month of the Holy Rosary, with the Feast of the Holy Rosary being celebrated on October 7th.

The Rosary is a series of prayers including the Apostle’s Creed, the Our Father, the Hail Mary and the Glory Be.

There are four mysteries of the Rosary, which are traditionally prayed on particular days of the week.

The Mysteries of the Rosary are meditations on the life and death of Jesus and Mary, from the Annunciation to the Ascension. These include the Joyful Mysteries, the Sorrowful Mysteries, the Glorious Mysteries and the Luminous Mysteries.

NEW NEWS!

Each year, St. Mary’s School supports the St. Vinnie’s Christmas Giving Tree.

To raise funds for gifts, the Grade Six Social Justice Team will be selling Zooper Doopers each Thursday in:

Week 6 (November 14th),

Week 7 (November 21st)

Week 8 (November 28th) at 50 cents each.

The money collected will be divided amongst the Social Justice Team members, who will then shop for gifts to go under our tree.

Donations of gifts for the St. Vinnie’s Giving Tree will be called for at the beginning of December so if you are able to support this appeal, please keep this in mind when Christmas shopping!

NEW NEWS

Along the Track

The latest edition of “Along the Track” entitled “Divide and Conquer? Really??” talks about how differences between people make us unique and should make divisions between us.

“Jesus told us to love one another as he loved us. We are all called to ask ourselves: given what is happening today, what is love asking of me now? As Mahatma Gandhi said: If you want to change the world, start with yourself.”

This interesting article is well worth a read and a reflection and may be found here.
