CAPITAL WORKS:

Magnetic Lock Saga:

The school responded to the staff requests for easier opening locks around the school.

As part of the Capital works program this year, 11 magnetic locks needing over 200kg power to open,  were installed to our gates. Our students found a way a couple of days after installation to open the gates.

Inspection showed that there was some flex in the gates so the gates were reinforced. This was not enough as some students pulled the locks down to break the magnetism. During the last holidays pieces were welded above and below the locks to minimise vertical movement of the gates.  Alas! The reinforcements for the gates were no match for two of out students.

We have a quote to install a second magnetic lock on the 7 gates opened most often by the students. The manufacturer of the locks and the installer are both visiting next Tuesday to investigate the locks further.

Thank you for your patience when chains have to be re-instated to the gates for student safety.  Lets hope we have some permanent resolution soon!

FACILTIES

Gates around the school

Magnetic lock gates have been reinstated. Could staff please let me know of any issues with gates around the school?

Swing area in PG6

A new path was installed in this area as part of the swing works. The area around it is very muddy and slippery. As a temporary measure artificial gras has been placed over the area until turf can be purchased and installed.

Can staff please use the gate from the end of PG5 to access PG6 if there are students on the swings.

Fence PG2

The fence in PG 2 beside Room 4 has been replaced. There is a now gate in the fence beside the trampoline that swing outward toward the ramp.

Air conditionerscan staff please make sure AC units are turned off in classrooms and meeting spaces at the end of the day. TURN OFF the AC units in the OT room and climbing room as you leave at the end of each session.

Facilities job requests and notifications:

Log any jobs for Maintenance on SharePoint. When logging jobs please provide the exact location of the door, window etc this will allow Jacob to repair the item even if there is no staff member in the room. Logging the item in detail will enable Jacob and I to schedule the works and ensure they are completed in a timely manner.

Big Bin

The big bin move has been deferred. DO NOT place items around the bin. If items do not fit in the bin take them back to your classroom and advise me and I will organise for it to be emptied. The bin is emptied every Wednesday morning before school commences.

Workplace inspections & reporting items

If you have a maintenance issue in your office or room these should be reported in the Maintenance log immediately. DO NOT wait until the end of term to report these issues as many need to be rectified as quickly as possible to avoid incidents.
