We have resumed choir and ensemble rehearsals this week, and look forward to making the most of our remaining rehearsals this term.

Please stay tuned for information regarding year-end open rehearsals for the instrument ensembles. Thank you for your ongoing support of the music program.

Training Band - Seeking New Brass, Wind and Percussion Members

We are excited to resume the Training Band at Chatswood Public School. Training Band is ideal for students who are learning a brass, wind or percussion instrument and are ready to expand their skills and music experience with group learning. Training Band members typically will have been learning an instrument for a minimum of 6 months and learning to read music notation.

Kindly note, we have limited spaces for students learning keyboard (piano); we will try to accommodate as many as possible across keyboard and percussion instruments.

Training Band rehearsals will take place on Thursday mornings before school, 7:30-8:40am in the B Block Music Room. Ensemble commitments include weekly rehearsals and practice in individual instrument lessons and at home. A music program registration fee and ensemble participation fee will be included in the school statement of account.

Please contact the Music Program if your child (Years 1-6) has foundational experience in a brass, wind or percussion instrument is keen to join an ensemble. The ensemble director will confirm if the Training Band is a good fit for your child's current level of experience.

External Music Opportunities

Lane Cove Youth Orchestra special initiative: 'Play Together'

Lane Cove Youth Orchestra has received a funding grant through the NSW Government’s Local Small Commitments Allocation Program. The 'Play Together' project will offer participants 5 fun rehearsals to work as an ensemble on Impending Joy by Adrian Hallam, a new work commissioned especially for this event, plus a few upbeat pieces celebrating the festive season. Lane Cove Youth Orchestra invites young musicians on an orchestral instrument to apply: violin, viola, cello, bass, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, French horn, trumpet, trombone, tuba or percussion. Participants will be 11 years and older, with a minimum experience level of AMEB grade 3. The funding enables the selected musicians to participate at no cost; there will be a final concert, and audience members may purchase tickets to attend.

For more information, please contact LCYO on www.lcyo.org.au, mcn114@bigpond.net.au or 0411 413 335. Registration closes 28 October 2024.
