Principals Message
Upcoming Capital Works for School Improvements
Dear Trafalgar Primary School Community,
We are excited to announce that Trafalgar Primary School has been awarded a substantial $465,233.50 in funding under the Victorian Government’s Planned Maintenance Program (PMP). This funding, based on a recent Rolling Facilities Evaluation (RFE), will address high-priority maintenance needs across our campus. Through this program, the Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA) has committed to helping us tackle the Priority 1 and 2 issues identified in our Condition Assessment Report. These projects will ensure that urgent building maintenance needs are addressed promptly, providing a safe and optimal environment for learning.
We expect significant upgrades as part of our capital works improvements to beginning in December. These projects will support a safer, more modern environment for all our students and staff.
One of the primary projects will involve a full replacement of roofing damaged in recent storms, providing durable, weatherproof protection for classrooms and common areas. Additionally, we will be installing new fencing, starting with a 2.1m powder-coated fence and automatic gates at the front of the school and across the staff carpark. This new fencing will guide safe and secure entry points and reinforce a safer path for students and families, reducing risks posed by traffic in the carpark.
As work begins across multiple areas of the school grounds, there may be temporary disruptions to access in some places. While we may experience some short-term inconvenience, these enhancements are a valuable long-term investment in our school’s safety and security.
We recently shared these exciting changes with students at our last Whole School Assembly, highlighting the importance of staying clear of construction zones. Although all necessary protective measures, such as temporary fencing, will be in place, we kindly ask families to reinforce this message at home. By helping students understand the importance of avoiding these areas, we can ensure everyone’s safety as we progress with these projects.
Stay tuned for updates on the progress of these projects as we work towards enhancing our facilities for the entire school community!
Sincerely,
Cameron Nicholls
