Festival on the Lawn, Trafalgar Community Carols and Instrumental concert
The countdown is on for this year’s Festival on the Lawn. 4 weeks to go!
Friday 6th December.
It is going to be a great day of showcasing the Arts at Trafalgar Primary School.
The feature of the event will be all classes playing a song they've chosen and have been preparing in music class on the big stage. Drama and dance classes will also be performing, as will the Kinder. An art show will be happening in the gym showcasing student art. Vendors will be selling food and drink. Parents & Friends Commitee will be selling showbags. There will also be face painting and there may even be a staff song in the lineup!
I have included an event flier below and a list of all class songs and a suggested dress code. (Not compulsory). Looking forward to it.
Also remember that the Choir is performing at the Trafalgar Community Carols on the Wednesday before Festival on the lawn - Wednesday 4th December.
The instrumental concert will be held in the Gym the following week - Thursday 12th December.

Rotary Junior Community Award Presentation Night
On Wednesday, 16th October 2024, twelve Year 6 students had the opportunity to showcase all the hard work and projects they had undertaken to complete the Rotary Junior Community Award to local members of the Rotary Club of Victoria. These students have worked exceptionally hard over the past year to fulfil each component of the award, which included completing 10 hours of community service, 10 hours of physical activity, and 10 hours of skill development.
They also participated in a variety of enriching experiences, such as attending a community meeting, taking part in an arts or music event, engaging in an environmental activity, and exploring religious or spiritual practices, among others.
The students thoroughly enjoyed the experience, gaining a deeper understanding of their community and the various roles people play within it. They also learned about different cultures and developed new skills, including learning how to cook, creating beautiful quilts, designing and making vinyl stickers and so much more.
We really hope that next year’s Year 6 students give the award a try too! It’s been such a fun and rewarding journey, and everyone learned so many amazing things along the way that they will never forget. Have a read of what some of those students have to say about their experiences:
The Rotary Award Presentation Night by Hannah
On the 16 of October 2024, me and 11 others completed the Rotary Junior Community Award. Rotary is an award that Grade 6 students complete. There are many parts of it, such as community service, physical recreation, skills and social experiences. All of the children who completed the Award had to finish all of these and write what they did in a book.
As for the presentation night the rotary students went to the Trafalgar Bowls Club to give speeches and show the people from the rotary what we did. After everyone had given their speeches, we all got pizza. It was overall a great night that everyone enjoyed. I would 100% recommend the Rotary Junior Community Award!
Rotary Junior Community Award by Holly
The Rotary Junior Community Award Program is a program that teaches kids in Year Six to engage in community service and other things that benefit our community and the environment. This year, twelve people in Trafalgar Primary School completed the Rotary Program, including me. We were all given a small book, for keeping track of the different things we do in Rotary. We had to complete ten hours of learning a new skill, ten hours of physical activity, and ten hours of community service. We recently had a presentation night, where all the Trafalgar Junior Rotary participants presented all the things they did, and gave a small speech. The Rotary Junior Community Award Program was really fun, and I encourage everyone to complete it when they reach Year Six.
Rotary Presentation Night by Ryan
On the 16th of October 2024, I was really nervous because I just had my expander put in and I couldn’t talk very well, and I had to do a speech for the Rotary members and all the other kids and their families. My speech was about my journey with the Rotary Award. It was a very long journey because of all the amazing experiences and activities I had to do. One of my favourite experiences would probably be the cooking which was for the skill development part because I learned how to cook better and cooked delicious food. Some of the other things I got to do was to go to the Anne Mieke Mein exhibition, the Chinese museum, and participate in the ANZAC day ceremony. It was great fun to do everything and sort of hard and a great challenge. I would recommend that all the Grade 6s next year do the Rotary Award because it made me a better version of myself, and I think it would be great for you to do it too.

After School Auskick Program Wrap-Up
Our 5-week After School Auskick program wrapped up at the end of Term 3. Through our partnership with AFL Victoria, students across all year levels had the chance to learn the basic skills of Australian football in a fun and welcoming environment. Each Tuesday afternoon, the school oval was filled with enthusiastic players practicing handballing, kicking, and teamwork, all under the expert guidance of Box Hill Hawks VFLW player Alisha Molesworth.
We’re proud of our Auskickers for their hard work and enthusiasm, and a big thank you goes to the parents and supporters who made this program a success. We look forward to providing more AFL opportunities at Trafalgar Primary School in 2025!
Junior School Swimming Program Success
Our Junior School Swimming Program also wrapped up at the end of Term 3, and what a fantastic experience it was for our Foundation and Grade 1-2 students! Held at the Latrobe Leisure Moe Newborough Indoor Pool, the program provided our youngest students with a great opportunity to develop their swimming skills in a fun and supportive environment.
In the first session, AustSwim instructors assessed each student's abilities, allowing them to be grouped according to skill level for the remainder of the program. This tailored approach ensured that each child learned at their own pace, building confidence in the water while making new friends along the way.
A big thank you to our dedicated instructors and supportive families for helping to make this program a splash! We’re so proud of our young swimmers and look forward to watching their skills grow in future programs.
