LEAD Melbourne
Over the past couple of weeks, our Year 9's participated in the LEAD program.
LEAD stands for Learn, Explore, Appreciate and Develop a Better Melbourne.
The LEAD program offered Viewbank's Year 9s to attend a 5 day long excursion across Melbourne City.
The students got to choose to research a topic of choice ranging from Resilience, Health, Safety and Inclusion.
This research involved finding background information about this topic, as well as interviewing people in Melbourne City.
As a result of this research, students worked in small groups to develop a final reel showcasing their findings.
There were also several fun excursions conducted, including Eureka Skydeck, River Cruise, Bike Riding, Street Art Walking Tour, etc.
We also had a few special guests who gave us presentations educating us on topics, such as mental health, or the city council.
All students made their own way to the city, in order to give them independence.
Overall, LEAD was a great experience for Viewbank College Year 9s, as it helped them develop skills such as problem solving and the use of teamwork.
