Library News

The NRL Footy Tipping Competition has finished for 2024. In the end only one point separated first and second place. Teachers took the first three places. Next year the students may get their revenge. Thank you for participating in a thrilling competition. Mrs Medhurst did a wonderful job organising it.
Talking about winners, below are photos of the 2024 Senior Chess Champion, Owen W, and the 2024 Junior Chess Champion, Will L. Early next year we will host another instalment of the school chess competition. In Term Four the library will offer social chess every Tuesday at recess.
Our HSIE Leader of Learning, Ms Thomas, presented booklets about Australia’s involvement in the Vietnam War to the library. These resources were donated by Vincent Cosgrove a Vietnam Veteran, and his wife Nancy, who visited our school earlier this year. They travel around schools as part of an outreach program, giving a first-hand account of the Vietnam War. Their knowledge and stories are an invaluable source that students could not learn about through reading or listening to teachers. Vince’s biography can be accessed at https://anzacportal.dva.gov.au/stories/biographies/vincent-john-cosgrove if you want to learn more. This is a volunteer program with donations going to the Vietnam Veterans Association of Australia.
Finally, the library is constantly receiving new titles for loan. We also have access to a collection of eBooks and audiobooks on the SORA app. Please look at the details below or speak to library staff about SORA.
