Thursday Sport

Last Thursday afternoon, sport commenced. A reminder to all students that hats are compulsory for Term 4 sport and at recess and lunch on the front oval. If there are any queries regarding Thursday afternoon sport please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Tilse.

Rugby League

This term we have a number of representative sports. Next week we have the U16yrs Girls Rugby League playing in their state final at Elderslie. The girls are the Country Cup champions and now play against the city winner in a state final. This is a fantastic achievement to have reached the state level. Thank you to Dave Dever who has coached the team and to Ms Watkins and Mrs Eveleigh who have managed and supported the girls throughout the season.

Our U14 & U16 boys and U14 girls Rugby League teams play at Tamworth on Thursday in the Jamie Lyon “Killer 9’s” finals. Thank you to Mrs Sarah Smith and Mr Feeney who have managed, supported and coached the boys rugby league teams throughout the year. They have been greatly supported by a number of parents who have coached on a regular basis on a Thursday afternoon and attended numerous competitions. Also, a huge thank you to the parents who have generously washed and cared for the school jerseys. We greatly appreciate the ongoing support of parents and wish all teams well.

Athletics

Congratulations to Maverick B and Ruby B who were named in the NSWCCC Athletics Merit team following their outstanding performance at the NSWCCC Athletic Championships last term. Maverick gained a silver medal in the Shot Put and Ruby also gained a silver in the Long Jump. Both Maverick and Ruby join our list of successful NSWCCC representatives for 2024. We are very proud of the students' success at this elite level. Ruby then competed in the All Schools Athletic Championships on the first weekend of the holidays and was placed 3rd in the Long Jump. This is an excellent result competing against students from Catholic, Independent and State schools.

The Diocesan Golf Day is on 4 November at Medowie Golf Course. We have a number of students competing in both the 3-person Ambrose 9 hole event and Individual 18 hole Championship.
