Creating Futures Together

Exploring the Digital World: A Hands-On Experience at Blue IT Connections

On 12th September, a group of Year 10-12 students visited Blue IT Connections, a local IT company in Scoresby, for an insightful and interactive excursion. Initially organised for Year 11 and 12 VM students, the invitation was also extended to Year 10 students eager to gain insight into the workings of a modern IT environment and explore potential career paths in the industry.

The day kicked off with an informative briefing on the company's organisational structure, giving students a clear understanding of the roles and responsibilities within an IT environment. Students then had the unique opportunity to roll up their sleeves and decommission a laptop, a hands-on activity that sparked curiosity and offered practical experience in hardware management.

A highlight of the excursion was the session on interview skills. Students witnessed mock interviews and were given the opportunity to refine their interviewing techniques. Additionally, students were introduced to Microsoft Teams Rooms (MTR), a comprehensive solution for modern collaborative meetings. MTR integrates video conferencing, audio, and screen sharing into a seamless experience, enhancing remote and in-person teamwork. This exposure allowed students to understand how MTR can streamline communication and collaboration in professional settings.

Lunch was a highlight, featuring delicious burgers from a local food truck, adding a fun and tasty touch to the day.

This educational excursion was a valuable learning experience that gave students a practical glimpse into the world of IT, leaving them inspired and better prepared for their future career paths. We thank Blue Connections IT for hosting our students and look forward to future collaborations!
