Kitchen Garden 

We have had a lovely fortnight meeting our chickens and learning about how to care for them. They will be visiting for some sleepovers until they are big enough to go into their new home. Bella also came to check out her new friends, she can't wait for them to be big enough to play with. 

We have planted some new plants in our dry riverbed and are hoping for some rain soon. Our vegie gardens have suffered from lack of rain and whilst we are harvesting our spinach now, they are not flourishing as hoped. Let’s see what we can grow over these cooler months. 

Our new pergola/outdoor classroom is going in soon. It will be a fantastic new addition to the whole school area and used by all as a classroom space, dining room and also be our main water catchment for the vegie garden. We have had a fantastic donation of some water tanks and now need to plumb them in and stabilise them into place.

Vietnamese/Japanese is the cuisine of choice this session and the children are making a traditional honeycomb cake using Pandan. I don’t think they will be rushing to ask for it for their birthday cakes as maybe our skills need to be refined to achieve the fluffiness it deserves!!!!
