From the Art Room

Steam Punk and Robots Gallery

The Art room was transformed into the Steampunk and Robots Gallery for Education week! Students spent their art session viewing artworks created by all year levels, discussed the different art forms and completed some drawings from observation. We were very impressed with the quality of the artworks in our gallery and even more impressed by the respectful nature in which the students explored and discussed these creations. Thank you to all our Billanook artists for contributing to such a wonderful collection of interesting artworks!

Artworks on display:

Foundation’s Robots were printed using black paint and junk materials to stamp a variety of shapes.

Level 1 & 2’s Robots were modelled using clay and painted with black ink and metallic silver paint. Students twisted pipe cleaners to connect nuts, bolts and washers for arms and legs.

Level 3 & 4’s Symmetrical Insects were carefully cut from paper decorated with metallic frottage. Students embellished their frames using textured junk materials and painted them with a dry brushing technique.

Level 5 & 6’s Steampunk Constructions were assembled using junk materials and painted with a dry brushing technique to achieve an old, rusty effect.
