Foundation to Grade 2

For Term 2 students have been focusing on object control skills that they can use with their hands. They have recently completed their work on the overarm and underarm Throw. They will now be moving on to learning about skills that can be used in sports like Netball, Basketball and Handball. This includes the chest, bounce and overhead pass, along with bouncing/dribbling a basketball.

Grade 3 to 6

The focus in Term 2 has been on Invasion Sports which are any sport that involves attacking and defending, with the objective of scoring goals against the other team. Students have recently finished learning about Netball and will now be moving on to learning about Australian Rules Football (AFL).

 

Upcoming Events

Grade 5/6 Winter Gala - Wednesday 4th of June

For this event, students will travel to a sports venue where they will participate in a tournament against teams from other schools in the Tarneit District. Our Soccer, AFL and Softball teams will be competing in a tournament at Galvin Park Reserve in Werribee. Our Netball teams will be competing in a tournament at Altona Sports Centre.

Grade 2 to 6 Swimming Program - Monday 16th of June to Friday 20th of June

As a part of our Health and Physical Education program at Wimba PS, all grade 2 - 6 students will have the opportunity to participate in swimming lessons at Saltwater Swim School in Truganina (2 Shear Street, Truganina) during school hours. Students will travel via bus with their teachers and classmates for a 45-minute session each day of the week.

Grade 3 to 6 District Athletics - Wednesday 13th of August

As a progression from the Athletics Day held in Term 1, students who performed to a high standard will have the oppotunity to compete in their athletics events against students from other schools around the Tarneit District. This event will be held at the VU Werribee Athletics Track. Students who have been invited to the event will be informed in the next few weeks, with notes to be sent home to families.
