Wimba Primary School Newsletter – Week 6, Term 2

Dear Wimba Community,

It’s hard to believe we’ve already reached the halfway point of Term 2! The year is flying by—it feels like just yesterday we were welcoming our students back for the start of 2025.

We want to hear from you

We invite all families to take part in the Wimba Primary School Review – Parent Survey. This short survey is an important part of helping us shape the future direction of our school. Your feedback will help us understand what we’re doing well and where we can improve in areas such as learning, wellbeing, communication, and community engagement. We truly value your voice and would appreciate you taking a few minutes to complete the survey using the link below:👉https://forms.gle/LxhFNfN3towpc2nV6

Curriculum Day Reminder

Please note that Thursday 5th and Friday 6th June are Curriculum Days. These are pupil-free days, and students are not required to attend school on these dates.  Kelly Club are running full day programs on both days.

Public Holiday

Just a friendly reminder that Monday 9th June is a Public Holiday in Victoria, and all schools will be closed.  Our students are not required at school on this day.

National Reconciliation Week

This week, we recognise National Reconciliation Week (27 May – 3 June) and National Sorry Day, which took place on Monday, 26 May.

At Wimba Primary, our students are engaging in meaningful activities that reflect on our shared histories, cultures, and the journey toward reconciliation. We remain committed to building knowledge and understanding about Australia’s First Nations peoples and how we can contribute to a more united and respectful future.

Annual Report to the School Community

The 2024 Annual Report to the School Community is now available on our school website. This report provides insights into our school’s achievements over the past year and highlights the progress we’ve made to support student learning and wellbeing.

2026 Prep School Tours

We are excited to invite prospective families to join our Prep School Tours for students starting in 2026. These tours offer an opportunity to visit classrooms, observe our students in action (morning sessions only), and ask any questions about enrolment.

Tour Dates:

  • Monday, 16 June
    • 9:00 AM
    • 3:15 PM

Student Reports and Staff Appreciation

Our staff are currently hard at work finalising assessments and writing student reports. This is a significant task undertaken outside of regular teaching hours—often at home, during weekends, or even on the go.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to our dedicated teachers who go above and beyond to ensure high-quality reports that reflect each student’s progress. Your commitment and care do not go unnoticed.

Uniform Reminder

Wimba Primary has a distinct and purposeful uniform that helps create a sense of belonging and equality among students.

We ask all families to support our uniform policy by ensuring children attend school in the correct attire. Uniforms promote a focused learning environment and reduce social pressures related to appearance.

Key Uniform Guidelines:

  • Uniforms must be clean, in good repair, and clearly labelled.
  • Only plain black or white undergarments may be worn under uniforms for warmth.
  • School hats (bucket style, black) are required in Terms 1 and 4.
  • In Terms 2 and 3, students are encouraged to wear beanies outdoors (not indoors).
  • Hair accessories, headscarves, and turbans must be in school colours (black, royal blue, or white).
  • Only minimal jewellery is permitted (studs/sleepers and watches).
  • Shoes must be runners; socks in black or white only.
  • Dresses/skirts must be worn with school-coloured socks or tights; no pants under dresses unless for cultural reasons (leggings are acceptable).
  • Extreme hairstyles and unnatural hair colours are not permitted.
  • Makeup is not allowed, except for clear nail polish.

If you need help understanding any part of our uniform policy, please contact the school office.

Education Support Staff Appreciation Day – Friday 16 May

On Friday 16th May, we celebrated Education Support Staff Appreciation Day, honouring the vital work of our non-teaching staff—office team members, First Aid officers, and classroom aides.

These dedicated individuals play essential roles behind the scenes to support students and staff alike. We thank them for their care, professionalism, and commitment. Please join us in showing appreciation—not just on this special day, but every day.

Thank you for your continued support. Wishing all our families a wonderful weekend ahead.
