From the Principal's Desk

Dear Parents,
Over the past few days the parish and school community have celebrated Fr Leo’s golden jubilee. It has been wonderful to take the time to recognise this incredible gift of faith, service and love of others. Congratulations once again Fr Leo!
Reconciliation Week
This is National Reconciliation Week. The week began with National Sorry Day on Monday 26th May which commemorates the anniversary of the tabling of the "Bringing Them Home" report in Parliament. A week-long celebration follows and through this time there is an opportunity for all Australians to learn about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to reconciliation. The theme of this year's National Reconciliation Week, Bridging Now to Next, is urging us to stand firm in our determination to use our knowledge of the past to create a positive change in the future.
Our throughline this term is ‘Dhumba/ Ngarnga - Talk and Listen’ and our students are learning about the stories, important events and culture. We encourage you to have them share their learning with you.
The National Reconciliation Week (NRW) 2025 theme, Bridging Now to Next, reflects the ongoing connection between past, present and future. Bridging Now to Next calls on all Australians to step forward together, to look ahead and continue the push forward as past lessons guide us.
The short clip below explains this.
For National Reconciliation Week this year, Reconciliation Australia called on choirs across the country to raise their Voices for Reconciliation once again. The song chosen this year was Shane Howard and Goanna's iconic Solid Rock, and the response was incredible.
Foundation Camp experience
This Friday, our Foundation students will participate in their camp experience. They will arrive at school in their pyjamas, with their uniform packed ready to change into, later in the morning. After a yummy breakfast, they’ll get themselves ready for the day of fun activities. We can’t wait to share the photos.
Assembly
There is a whole school assembly this Friday 30 May at 3pm in the hall. The year 3/4 classes will be hosting.
BPC Gnoccheria Drive
The BPC are holding their Gnoccheria drive again this year, please support this fundraiser with proceeds going towards the end of term School Disco. Information was sent home to families on Monday. Please see the BPC page for more details.
Lost Property
Our Lost property cupboard is over flowing with uniform, lunch boxes and containers and many do not have a name on them. For the next few weeks, each Monday the lost property will be on display in the hall at 3:30pm. If your child has lost an item please come in and check what we have. If there is an item, without a name on it and, it is what your child has lost, you can take it. We would much prefer that the items be taken and used by students rather than sitting, unclaimed, in the cupboard that is so full, the door doesn’t close properly. Many thanks to Mr Josh for organising this.
Parking around the School
We have been informed that some cars parked around the school over the past months have found nails in their tyres. It has happened to the same cars on a number of occasions. The Police have been contacted and we are urging everyone to be aware of this. If you see anyone acting suspiciously around cars parked around the school, please let us or the police now. Your support is greatly appreciated.
