ACTING WITH COURAGE – OWNING THE LEARNING JOURNEY

At All Saints’ College, we believe that true agency in learning involves more than making choices. Agency in learning means acting with courage in the face of uncertainty. As part of our ongoing work with the New Metrics for Success program, we are empowering students to take bold steps in their learning: to try something new, to voice an idea, to ask for help or to take a risk that stretches their thinking.

Courageous learners are not defined by perfection, but by their willingness to lean into the unknown. Whether it is contributing to a challenging class discussion, attempting a different approach to a task, or pushing through a setback, these moments of bravery shape confident, independent learners.

Parents play a powerful role in supporting this growth. At home, consider asking questions such as “What took courage today?” or “When did you step outside your comfort zone?” These conversations can help students reflect on their own learning behaviours and celebrate the strength it takes to keep growing.

By nurturing courage in learning, we help our students develop the mindset to face future challenges with optimism and resilience. We want our students to lead their own learning with conviction.
