Pilgrims of Hope: Embracing the Jubilee Year 2025

Sacramental Program 2024/2025 Celebration!

We are overjoyed to share the wonderful news of our recent sacramental celebrations! On Sunday, June 8th, our school and parish community gathered to celebrate the sacraments of Confirmation and First Eucharist for our Sacramental Candidates. It was a truly beautiful and moving occasion, filled with the grace and presence of the Holy Spirit.

First and foremost, congratulations to all the children who received their sacraments. Your commitment to your faith and your openness to these important steps in your spiritual journey inspire us all. May these sacraments strengthen your relationship with God and guide you every day.

We extend our deepest gratitude to the families of these children. Your support, love, and dedication have been invaluable in preparing them for this significant milestone. Your presence at the Mass and cluster groups added joy and importance to the occasion, creating memories to cherish for years to come.

A heartfelt thank you also goes to our dedicated parish sacramental team. Your tireless efforts in organising, teaching, and preparing the children for these sacraments go above and beyond. Your commitment to fostering the spiritual growth of our Sacramental Candidates is a true blessing to our community.

Our Sacramental Mass was a beautiful reflection of faith and community spirit. The Mass, led by Bishop Shane and concelebrated by Fr Ronald and Fr Ruel, was a wonderful celebration of the children’s faith journey. The school families’ leading the choir added a special touch to the celebration, the church was alive with their harmonious voices, the reverent participation of the congregation, and the unmistakable sense of God’s love among us. It was a powerful reminder of the importance of coming together as a parish family to celebrate and support one another. As we continue to grow in faith together, let us keep these children in our prayers, asking God to bless and guide them always. May their journey in faith be filled with joy, love, and the unwavering support of our parish community.

Our school community will have the privilege of congratulating our Sacramental Candidates from St. Mel’s Primary School at our school assembly this Monday, 16th June. Our staff and students have been praying for our candidates throughout their journey and have made special cards to congratulate each of them. At the assembly, the children will have the opportunity to share highlights from their sacramental journey, their celebration Mass, and the reasons behind their chosen Confirmation names.

Once again, congratulations to all the children, and thank you to their families and our sacramental team for making this celebration so meaningful. We will gather together again when our candidates will receive their Sacramental Certificates at either Mass on June 22nd at St. Mel's Church.

St. Anthony's Feast Day Celebrations

As we prepare to celebrate the feast of St. Anthony of Padua, we remember this beloved saint who is known as the patron of lost things and a friend to all who seek God’s guidance. St. Anthony was a gifted preacher and a humble servant who dedicated his life to spreading the Good News. He reminds us to seek Christ with open hearts and to trust that God’s love is always there to guide us home. May his example inspire us to live with compassion and to be generous with our words and actions.

Celebrating Pentecost – The Birthday of the Church!

On Sunday, 8th June, when our Sacramental Candidates were confirmed, we celebrated Pentecost Sunday. Pentecost occurs 50 days after Easter and marks the moment the Holy Spirit came upon the Apostles, giving them the courage and strength to share the Good News of Jesus with the world. Pentecost is often called the Birthday of the Church, because it marks the beginning of the Church’s mission in the world.

At our school, Pentecost reminds us that we are called to be people of courage, hope, and unity. Just like the early disciples, we are invited to share God’s love with others through our words and actions. The Holy Spirit continues to guide and inspire us today, helping us build a community that is welcoming, compassionate, and filled with joy.

To celebrate Pentecost in our school community, students have been learning about the symbols of the Holy Spirit, wind, fire, and the dove and reflecting on how the Spirit is active in their own lives. You might like to ask your child:

  • What does Pentecost mean to you?
  • How can we be guided by the Holy Spirit in our everyday actions?
  • What gifts of the Holy Spirit do you see in our family?

May the fire of the Holy Spirit renew our hearts and our school community this Pentecost season.

Come, Holy Spirit!
