Middle years - Term 3 - Weeks 3 & 4

Year 3 & 4

In Literacy, we have been finalising the novel ‘The Iron Man’ by Ted Hughes. The students have still been moving through the process of an information report and are a week away from publishing their writing pieces.

During spelling and grammar lessons, we have been focusing on prefixes ‘mis’ and converting word contractions for example we will to we’ll.

In Maths, we have moved on to a new topic and been focusing on time telling. We have been looking at analogue and digital clocks and been working on developing students skills reading analogue times to the minute and five minutes. There has also been a focus on quarter past, quarter to and half past times.

In Religion, we have still been moving through our topic ‘Jesus Parables’ in which we explore the messages found in scripture which challenge us to live how Jesus lived. Students have been looking at bible stories with deeper meanings and relating these messages to their own lives.

In Inquiry, we have been working through our topic, ‘What Makes Us Healthy?’ the students have been learning about a range of strategies in a workshop rotation setting amongst the classes in the ¾ unit. The topics that have been taught and explored are Mindfulness, Eating Healthy, Physical Fitness, Yoga and Resilience.
