Reflecting on Peace 

as we Commemorate the 80th Year 

of Hiroshima Bombing 

 

This term in Japanese, students have been learning about the importance of peace.  

 

This year marks the 80th year since the atomic bomb was dropped in the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan. 

 

Senior and Middle years students learnt the brief history of World War Two, and how Japan has managed to rebuild the country to one of the most peaceful countries in the world today. 

 

Junior years students learnt about the significance of the origami paper cranes through the story, ‘Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes’.  

 

In the last two weeks, Junior years students engaged in a variety of craft activities that portrayed their understanding of peace in our world and in our country.
