Buzzing with Energy in LS2: Hello Term 3!
The LS2 Juniors returned to school this week, buzzing with excitement and eager to share stories from their holiday adventures! From sun-soaked getaways to Thailand, to cosy escapes in Ballarat and Tasmania, and even city staycations, their mid-year break was filled with unforgettable memories.
Our students made the most of their time with friends and family — many loved going to Disney on Ice, some savoured delicious treats at festivals, while others enjoyed fun-filled days at the snow, Gumbaya World, the zoo, various play centres, or watching the latest movies at Fountain Gate.
With all that excitement bubbling over, we thought, what better way to share our holiday experiences with the rest of the school than by turning them into captivating recounts?
The LS2 Junior students enthusiastically put pencils to paper this week to recount their holiday adventures, capturing the highlights of their experiences and can’t wait to share these memorable moments with you.
We’re ready to embrace the excitement of Term 3 and all the adventures that await us! 😄
Have a lovely weekend! 😊

Natasha, Matilda, Sarah and Andriana.

Walking in someone else’s shoes:
Walking in someone else's shoes helps students to practice empathy and is a transformative act that can profoundly reshape our understanding of ourselves and the world around us. This metaphorical journey invited LS2 seniors to step beyond their personal experiences and genuinely connect with others' perspectives, fostering individual growth and deeper human connections. Students wrote letters and journal entries from the perspectives of First Nations Peoples, explorers, convicts, and free settlers. Students then drew pictures, imagining what the convicts saw from the deck or how Aboriginal observers perceived strange ships approaching. This further complemented their written work by blending emotional and visual literacy
Exploring the concept of walking in someone else’s shoes through both an Indigenous Australian and a First Fleet lens revealed to the students the deeply contrasting experiences of all individuals involved in this difficult, yet defining part of Australia’s past. It challenged us all to look beyond ourselves and to look to a future that embraces diverse perspectives and builds a more understanding and compassionate world.
